Back To School
Back to school means something different to each of us.
For my family, this is the last year of high school for our son, Grayson, and I'm feeling excited, scared, and sad all at the same time. I remember my senior year like it was (almost) yesterday and it's been nearly 28 years. EKKK!!! (33 for Bob... I should add that.) Senior Year is a very special time and I'm mostly excited for Grayson and so very very proud of him.
For the store, back to school is a time where many young girls come in for their "every day" shoes, their sport shoes, and that cute purse or two to get them through till Christmas. We love the fever that comes with school shopping. The conversations mothers and daughers have over which shoes will go best with the most outfits, etc.
Back to school also means that two of our staff members are going back to college.
Jenna goes back to MSU. She leaves us for now, with the promise of long weekends (if needed), holidays, and back next summer. What a blessing, a joy and a priviledge to work with this young woman. She walked into our store, into our hearts, and into yours.
Jessica goes back to Schoolcraft and has been asked to be a tutor this year. A 4.0 college student, now a tutor, our assistant store manager, a daughter, a girlfriend, a friend, and an someone I can really count on to just get the job done. Before I ask. Before I think about it. I'm so thankful that she is going to a local school and can still work the store. How she does it and maintains that grade point average, I just don't know.
We're so very proud of both of you girls. Your work ethic, dedication, loyalty, and loving spirits that shine in everything that you do. Everything you touch will turn to gold. Anything you want to do with your lives, you will make happen.
As I think about "back to school" I realize Grayson will go off to college next year and you young people are the future. Three incredible young people that I have the honor of knowing.
