There he was in Northville
It's really kind of funny, because I'm a dork and I just love people. I'm not super impressed with stature and status, I just love people. So, when Danny Baldwin walked into the store, he was just a guy coming in to buy something for his wife. I knew that I knew him, but I kept thinking it was from the neighborhood. When the two Japanese girls in the store pointed at him and giggled, I thought they were making fun of this guy for shopping in a women's shoe store and I immediately felt like I needed to protect him. Little did I know that they had seen him at the Tuscan Cafe shooting scenes for his upcoming movie "Born of Earth" and little did I know that my friends at the Tuscan had rented out their facility the previous 4 hours. So I just asked, "What are you looking for, Hon?" He said a gift for his wife, "Just because I love her", and those of you that know me know that my next response.......... "I LOVE THAT GUY!" ...... was totally genuine. We do love that guy at Lorla's. The guy that wants to shop for his wife because he "gets her" and wants to make her happy with something fun. So it went on. He asked about Ugg's and we carry Lamo. I love LAMO by the way! All lamb skin boots with bling along the top. They have been a HUGE hit in the store. (See our online store for colors. They are only $89 and ONLY available at Lorla's.) When I said I could special order something for him, he said, "Oh, I'm only in town for a couple of days." Then, (like a dork) I said, "Oh yeah? Where are you from?" ha ha ha ha When he said, "LA", it hit me. Of course he was! He was a Baldwin. DUH! I wasn't sure which one at that point, but I knew sure as he was standing there that he was a Baldwin and I must be the only one in the world to ask him where he was from. (still laughing) Then, trying to recoup I talked about the devastating fires in California and my hope that he hadn't been affected. My sister lives in West Lake Village (near Maibu) and I was worried about her too. He said so far they had been safe from the fires, but he was keeping in touch at home for updates. He walked around the store for awhile and then got a phone call from his wife. I heard him say, "I'm in the cutest shoe store with the greatest purses. I wish you were here because you'd love it!" and he left taking his phone call outside. I just have to laugh. I hear from my friends at the Tuscan Cafe that Danny, the other actors, and the crew were so nice to them and they all had a lot of fun. I have to think it's nice for him to shop in obscurity and just be "a guy from the neighborhood."

How fun! What did he say? Was he friendly? I tried to figure out how I could enter a comment about your home page—then I saw this and couldn’t resist.

Aw! That’s such a sweet thing to say. Yes, Danny Baldwin was very nice. He didn’t stay long though. Thanks for the comment on the Shoe Stories! We love making them and bringing them to “life”.
