Kindness
Every now and again I have experiences at the store that just knock me out. People are so amazing. I am so incredibly blessed to be put in this place. Monday, a woman came in and she asked, "Do you remember me?" That question is one that scares me everytime I hear it. I want to remember everyone, but I meet so many people that it's not always possible. I knew her face. She continued, "You told me about the love story of the Marilyn Monroe painting in the store." Since I share that story with everyone that admires the painting, it still took me a minute to remember our encounter. Then, she gave me a gift. A Marilyn Monroe purse she had saved for me. It was something that reminded her of me, the store, and my husband's gift during our courtship. (Isn't "courtship" an awesome word?) As she handed me the purse she thanked me for being kind to her and for sharing our story with her. I stood there stunned. What a sweet thing to do. It struck me that kindness in itself should not be so uncommon. Right? Kindness should be a certain, a constant, and the opposite the anomaly. I am so thankful for this place, for our customers, for the opportunities we have to serve and be kind to people. Thank you, Cherie, for the cute handbag. It will stand as a reminder to continue to just be nice to one another.

I had another thought…. kindness is contagious. You know that don’t you? If someone has been kind to you, and if that provokes you to be kind to someone else …. see where this is going?
