Introducing Ms. Thornetta Davis
What a treat for us to have THE Ms. Thornetta Davis in our store last Friday night. (Thank you girl!) Finally it worked out for both our schedules. Thornetta stayed for hours checking out all our goodies and delivering her CD's that are now in the store. Rose Glenn was lucky enough to be in the store at the same time and receive a signed copy of Live at the Music Menu! Had I realized how much fun that would be, I would've arranged an event!! Hmmm.... idea!! Maybe next time.
I have been a fan of Thornetta's music for nearly 15 years. Bob and I used to follow her from club to club back in those days. I remember one night walking downtown Birmingham (from a late night dinner) and hearing Thornetta's booming soulful voice projected over a loudspeaker and we were like homing pigeons as we headed to Edison's (below 220 Merrill St.) to work our way through the crowd to see her again. When I owned Details Party & Event Planning, we booked Thornetta and her band for Faith Stanton's 40th birthday party at Toast (in Ferndale - one of the best little breakfast and lunch joints ever!) and they just tore is up!! That must have been one of the best parties I had ever thrown and certainly one of the best I had ever attended.
Now, some years later, there she was in our store admiring us as much as we were admiring her and I have to tell you, it felt like home. Like bread and butter. You know what I mean? Thornetta is this wonderful, peaceful, sweet person that has a heart for our ministries (70x7) and a love for shoes. I just think it's wonderful that our connection would bring us to a friendship years later. And, now, I get to share her with you.
