In the interest of remaining relevant, innovative, and consistent to our vision and integrity, we've realized something we should have noticed from the beginning. CLUB CARDS have too much information on them. If you have a Club Card issued prior to September 29, 2007, we want you to cut it up. Right now! Not kidding. We are making new Club Cards (today) and we will have them in the store by Tuesday, October 2, 2007. The new cards will only have your name, birthdate, and expiration number on them. This is information that could be gathered from your license and not as invasive and exposing as the old Club Card. All your personal information (address, phone numbers, and email) will still be collected and maintained on our database, but not available to the public. You will get a brief email about this change, but we wanted to discuss it further here. Your safety is important to us.
What a treat for us to have THE Ms. Thornetta Davis in our store last Friday night. (Thank you girl!) Finally it worked out for both our schedules. Thornetta stayed for hours checking out all our goodies and delivering her CD's that are now in the store. Rose Glenn was lucky enough to be in the store at the same time and receive a signed copy of Live at the Music Menu! Had I realized how much fun that would be, I would've arranged an event!! Hmmm.... idea!! Maybe next time.
I have been a fan of Thornetta's music for nearly 15 years. Bob and I used to follow her from club to club back in those days. I remember one night walking downtown Birmingham (from a late night dinner) and hearing Thornetta's booming soulful ... (more)
Bob turned 50 years old on September 5th. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined myself with a 50 year old. ha ha. (Back up... revise...) Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that 50 would be so darn good looking!!
Bob spent his 50th Birthday in Chicago with me picking out our Spring/Summer '08 lines. Not much of a 50th birthday. But, we made the most of it by inviting our very good friends, Ryan (from Corso Como) and Steve (from Jessica Bennett) out to dinner. And though Carrie (from Oh Deer) made reservations for us at her favorite Steak House (thank you so much!) we ventured instead to Ryan's pick "Tavern on Rush" for an elegant dinner, great drinks, enormous laughs and a waiter that was willing to put up with us!
Then, off to "POPS" (a Champagne ... (more)
There is always that rush before a trip and then the feeling that I'm missing out on something at the store when I'm gone. As I prepare for my trip to New Jersey, I know I will be missing out on a lot of great things at the store. New product, fun customers, awesome stories. All to be saved for me until I get back. I need to get away. Of course this trip, like others, will also be spent scooping out the competition and seeking new and interesting product. But I will also get to celebrate my friends Melissa and Randy King. Randy is a fighter pilot for the Air National Guard and there will be an awesome air show while we're there. They are going to show me the town and I'm going to take it all in. ...
